Clayton, MO -- Democratic candidate for St. Louis County Executive, Mark Mantovani, reported a very successful quarter of fundraising prior to the primary on August 7 with $550,000 raised in the recent quarter and $2.22 million over the life of the campaign. Mantovani’s latest report shows $742,000 on hand.

“I am extremely pleased that so many people have heard our message of positive change in County government and are rejecting the ‘pay to play’ politics of the current administration,” said Mantovani campaign manager, Grant Campbell. “The challenger always has an uphill battle against an entrenched incumbent with favors to give, but we are peaking at the right time.”

Individual contributions to Mantovani for STL have reached 900 over the course of the campaign, with 280 of those coming in the 2nd quarter. In addition, Mantovani has personally invested a significant amount to make sure his administration would not be tied to County contractors and those wanting influence with the County Executive.

If elected County Executive, Mantovani has pledged to ban donations from those doing or seeking business from the County and also will not raise funds for three years after the election to build a campaign war chest.

Mark has been endorsed by Democrats across the region, including the Missouri Progressive Action Group, nearly a dozen Democratic Township clubs, more than 20 current and former mayors and key municipal leaders, and representatives from the business community.
