Can't Give A Sucker An Even Break: Ex-Con Turns Vigilante in Fatal Shooting

An ex-con blasted a buddy of his to the grave after suspecting the victim had diddled a 3-year-old relative. That gunman, Anton Williams, 34, was charged in the fatal on recently.
Williams, of the 4100 block of Meramec, was charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and two counts of illegal gun possession. His bail was set at $800,000 cash-only.
Williams fatally shot Derrick Williams, 55, about 8:30 a.m. on May 31 in the 3600 block of Nebraska. Derrick Williams was found bleeding from a gunshot to the head and pronounced dead at the scene. He had lived in the 5200 block of Louisiana.
Court documents obtained by the Evening Whirl state Anton Williams and Derrick Williams were "close family friends," and that Anton Williams was angry after learning that his 3-year-old relative had been molested by Derrick Williams.
When a detective spoke with Anton Williams by phone the afternoon of May 31, the suspect talked about his relative being molested by Derrick Williams but pretended not to know he was dead, documents say.
Police got a search warrant for Anton Williams' home and found a shotgun hidden in the basement's rafters. "A child of the defendant saw my partner holding the shotgun and blurted, 'That's my daddy's shotgun,'" elite homicide detective Michael “Mad Dog” Herzberg wrote in charges.
Anton Williams has 2002 convictions in the city of assaulting a law enforcement officer and unlawful use of a weapon, making it illegal to have guns, charges say. He also has a 2016 conviction of drug possession.
