Fabulous Viola Davis Blows Into Da Lou for Urban League

Multi-millionaire Academy, Emmy and Tony Award winning actress Viola Davis jetted into the 100th anniversary gala for the St. Louis Urban League of Metropoltian St. Louis this past weekend.

Babysister got a great reception as she was the keynote speaker where more than 1,300 penguins jammed into a local downtown hotel ballroom.

Tickets were $250 per person, and some companies like Ameren Corp, Centene and World Wide Technology dropped a $1 million bucks each to help the five-star local unit covering Missouri and Illinois with programs like Save Our Sons and Save our Sisters. She did pose backstage for the New Evening Whirl and other media, with her hubby, Julius Tennon, a very cool dude.

Davis didn't hesitate to talk about inequality in her motion picture history and she didn't bite our tongue on other issues as well. The dynamic Michael Patrick McMillan, newly installed President and CEO of the Urban League raised big bucks and talked about all of the great social outreach programs, including the wonderment of the Ferguson Outreach Center in partnership with the likes of Salvatiion Army.

Seen the Scene, were the likes of Urban League's chair and Centene bigwig Keith Williamson; Senator Claire McCaskill, Alderwoman Merlene Davis, John Gaskin, III; Esther Haywood, Randy Weller, Rev. Earl E. Nance, Jr;  City Health Director Melba Moore and her former boss, now board president of Heatupstlouis.org Pamela Rice Walker; Radio One bossman Gary Gunter, who is now a new board member of the local UL chapter; Anheuser Busch's Julio Suarez; young banker Eric Madkins, Senator Jamilah Nasheed; James H. and Susan Buford; Archbishop Robert J. Carlson; Dr. Arnold Bullock of Christian-North East and Barnes Jewish hospitals and KMOX's Carol Daniels.

Rene Knott, morning news anchor for KSDK, On Your Side Channel 5, did a bang-up job as the MC.  and Eric Benet, Grammy-nominated songwriter, singer and actor knocked it out of the park with an after even entertainment bash. What was missing -- a dance floor to unwind.
