• Singer Carl Thomas headlines Orlando Watson’s 2nd annual “I’m a Survivor” All White Cancer Benefit & Party taking place June 10 at the Planetarium in Forest Park.


• The new Grand Ave Viaduct is moving along, it’ll open later this year to vehicles first and then to MetroBus and MetroLink.


• Rappers Future and Pusha T are coming to the Ambassador, with a joint show on June 22.


• Rev. Larry Rice wants to open a homeless camp near the Botanical Gardens. The new site is a two acre lot at the corner of Vandeventer and McRee just north of Highway 44.


• Kudos to Officer’s Zwick, Yim and Johnson, along with Sgt. John Despain, on the bust they made last Monday night in Dogtown. A known burglar broke the back door window to a house in the 6100 block of West Park at 1:30 a.m. The poor lady called 911. These coppers came and caught the guy.


• To kick off American Craft Beer Week, Six Row Brewing Co. will tap its Strawberry Honey Weizen on Monday. The brewpub (3960 Forest Park Avenue) opens at 4 p.m. on Monday. Other beers lined up for release this week include casks of Peppercorn Double IPA (Tuesday), Liquorice Porter (Wednesday) and Ginger Centennial Rye (Friday).


• Annie Malone Children and Family Service Center’s annual May Day Parade, the nation’s oldest African-American parade, will be held Sunday, May 20, 1 p.m., downtown, beginning at 20th and Market.


• Construction is under way at J. Spain’s Waffles & Wings at 1901 Washington Avenue, the site of the former Smoking Joe’s Bar-Be-Que. Its namesake is Jason Spain, who also owns The City Lounge at 1917 Washington Avenue. Both the restaurant and lounge are located in the rehabbed Tudor building. Spain plans to have J. Spain’s Waffles & Wings ready for customers next month.

 
• The Kingshighway viaduct over the railroad tracks just south of Highway 44, one of the most decrepit bridges in St. Louis, will finally get rebuilt next year.


• Breakfast for Bikers is held the third Friday of every month, 7 to 9 a.m., at the Downtown St. Louis Bicycle Station, 1011 Locust.


• St. Louis singer-poet Robert Dillard has released his third album, titled “Damage Control.” He will perform the hip-hop/neo-soul album live Tuesday at 8 p.m. at Legacy Books & Café (5249 Delmar).


• LouFest Music Festival will take place Aug. 25-26 on Central Field in Forest Park. Pre-sale weekend passes are available now at loudest.com for a discounted price of $50. The 2012 lineup will be announced soon.


• Pint Size Bakery & Coffee opened recently at 3825 Watson in south city. Pint Size features baked goods from Christy Augustin, whose career includes time as the pastry chef at Sidney Street Cafe (2000 Sidney) and King Louie’s.


• The Tower Grove Farmers’ Market  open every Saturday through Nov. 3, 8 a.m. until noon.


• The St. Louis Library now requires everyone to update their library card after each birthday.


• Rapper/singer Nicki Minaj’s “Pink Friday” tour is scheduled to play the Peabody Opera House July 31.


• As part of the Celebrate St. Louis Summer Concert Series, Nelly will perform for free downtown at Soldier’s Memorial on July 21.


• Rapper Trina is at the Imperial Place on May 19. Doors are at 9 p.m. A Baddest Bikini Chick Contest with a $1,000 prize will be featured.


• Virvus Jones is hosting a new talk show titled “The Daily Wrap with Virvus Jones.” It airs from 8-9 a.m. on WGNU 920 AM.


• Midtown brewpub Buffalo Brewing Co. (3100 Olive) is for sale.


• On June 9 the St. Louis Police SWAT Unit will host a 100-inning softball game fundraiser to benefit the 15 surviving children of Marines from Lima (Ohio) Co. 3rd Battalion/25th who were killed in action. The SWAT team will play all 100 innings against 10 guest teams — 10 innings against each squad. Cost per team is $250. All proceeds will go to the “Lima Kids” via Always Brothers, Inc. The games begin at 8 a.m. at Aviation Fields in Forest Park. Coed teams are welcome, but the SWAT Unit can’t guarantee that it will have a coed team on the field at all times. • Jim Fiala has transformed the back dining room of his Central West End spot Liluma (236 North Euclid) into Liluma Side Door, a more casual, small plates-focused restaurant-within-a-restaurant.


• Snoop Dogg is heading to Pop’s with a concert at 7 p.m. May 25.


• Super Jam 2012 returns to Verizon Wireless Amphitheater at 4 p.m. June 9 with a hip-hop and R&B lineup headlined by Young Jeezy, Wale and Miguel.


• Former city officers that worked the 9th District will be having a reunion June 9 at Fandango’s Bar (2940 Dougherty Ferry).


• 2 Chainz is at the Ambassador with a concert on May 18.


• Seal is playing the Fox Theatre with a concert at 8 p.m. July 31. Macy Gray is also on the bill. In addition, the Jacksons are hitting St. Louis as part of its Unity Tour, coming to the Fox Theatre July 11.


• R&B group Dru Hill comes to the Ambassador with a concert on May 19. Nikko Smith and Motre will also perform, and comedian Maurice G hosts.


• Comedian Eddie Griffin will perform at 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. June 16 at Lumiere Place Casino’s Lumiere Theater. In addition, “King of Comedy” and radio personality Steve Harvey is at Chaifetz Arena on July 27.


• Monthly concert series GirlFight! is Thursday night at Plush, 3222 Locust, featuring female-led bands and solo acts. Performing are Suzie Que, Langen Neubacher, Sheila Shahpari and Jedi Nighties. Doors are at 7 p.m. $7.


• Childish Gambino, the hip-hop stage name of actor Donald Glover from “Community,” comes to the Pageant with a concert at 8 p.m. June 7.
• Comedian Margaret Cho is at Lumiere Place Casino’s Lumiere Theater for two shows, 8 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. June 23.


• Classic rock act Heart, indie pop band Third Eye Blind and rising country star Dierks Bentley will headline Fair St. Louis. The free party runs July 4, 6 and 7 on the grounds of the Gateway Arch.


• Latin-themed Tropical Nights happen Friday nights at Dante’s (3221 Olive). Also at Dante’s is the weekly Thank God It’s Thursday. Music is by DJ Cuddy.

 
• Prohibition Pricing is at the Thaxton Speakeasy (1009 Olive) every Thursday. Doors at 9 p.m. and there is no cover.


• Tech N9ne’s Hostile Takeover Tour 2012 is at 6 p.m. July 5 at Pop’s. Also on the bill are Krizz Kaliko, Mayday!, Prozak and Stevie Stone.

• Soulition! Wednesdays is new to Lola (500 North 14th Street), with regular DJ spins from JMo, Will Power, Kase One, Enoch, DJ 76Kid, Reminisce and Nappy DJ Needles spinning hip-hop, funk, rare grooves, acid jazz and soul house. Free.

• Little Black Dress Party is every Friday at Club 15 (1900 Locust). The weekly fashion contest grants two winners free VIP access and sparkling wine. Arty J. Rumors will provide the music.


• Soulful Sundays take place in the East Loop at the Inspot Dessert Bar & Lounge on Delmar. The weekly event features free bogged wine, free chocolate covered strawberries, free admission and live music.


• Laughs at the Loft takes place every Monday night and features comedians from HBO and BET. McGriff hosts.


• Ladies Night at Miso (16 North Meramec in Clayton) featuring $2 beers/$3 cocktails/$4 wine is at 9 p.m. every Wed.


• Friday Night Fetish is at the Broadway (11836 West Florissant). Snap Babei hosts and DJ Moody spins.


• Jessie Taylor is hosting a weekly comedy show at the Pulse (8350 N. Broadway) every Sunday night.
